HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT Formerly called Health, Human Growth and Development focuses on issues related to the growth and development of the adolescent. Units include:
Students will be required to complete work within each of the Units on a satisfactory basis in order to pass the class. Assignments include a brochure on three types of infectious diseases including transmission, symptoms and treatments, note taking and understanding of the note subject matter, several homework worksheets to be completed and signed by a parent, and comprehensive tests. Grading for the class will be based on how well the student performs the work. Timeliness will be valuable in turning assignments in. Due to the delicate nature of some of the material presented, classroom discussions will be conducted in a mature, yet light and non-threatening way. This allows the students to ask questions and make comments in an appropriate and dignified manner and aids in the understanding of all students. Parents will always be allowed to view materials prior to presentation (given sufficient time) and even sit in on the class that their student is enrolled. |
