Our literacy block is 90 minutes in the morning.  During the block, the students; read to themselves, read with a partner, listen to a story, write, do word work, and then meet with me for guided reading.  The Daily 5 helps build responsibility and independence in the students decision making and learning. 

The afternoon will also include language arts with Writers Workshop and the use of our classroom reading series.
