What's Going On In Class

Michigan's Adventure- Last Wednesday Hillside 5th graders visited Michigan's Adventure. We had a great time despite the hot weather. In the picture above, some students from our class are ready for a fun-filled day including one big kid.(in back by the pole)

Reading- Students will have free choice reading. We will also continue to work on strategies that will help us become better readers like OWL, profundity, good fit books and fluency.

Writing- This week we will continue to build vocabulary doing word ladders. Some students will finish working on their persuasive writing during writing workshop. We will also write a last will and testament. As always students will write in their reflection journal and work on other strategies that will help us become better writers.

Word Work/Spelling- This week we will work on consonant blends and editing.

Social Studies- This week we explore the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Math- This week we will work on identifying and measuring angles.

Science- We will focus on Newton's first and third laws.
